Olympus Epi-Illumination Alignment Objective and U-P4RE Objective Turret
When using laser illumination, it's very important to be able to align each microscope objective separately. Not all objective turrets support this feature. The quality of the spectrum depends on it. The "Olympus epi-illumination alignment objective" shows the laser spot's position inside the objective on a convenient right-angle screen in the objective's side. Ideally the laser should be centered all the way through any objective on the turret (coaxial with the objective's axis). Once the laser is aligned in the middle of the alignment objective, all of the other objectives in the turret are then aligned to the laser spot that will be visible on the microscope stage (which is itself aligned with the sub-stage condensor and sub-stage illumination. Aligning everything is so complicated I've started making an alignment protocol... The U-P4RE adjustable objective turret allows alignment of each objective onto the same object target (such as an etched cross-hair on a glass slide).![]()
